English Class Description

The purpose of this course is to equip eighth graders with the knowledge they will need to succeed in high school and beyond with relation to grammar, literature, composition, poetry, and vocabulary. In this class, students can expect to be challenged with expanding their speaking and writing vocabulary while learning to apply this newly acquired knowledge in everyday live.

Students may also expect to be introduced to new literature in the form of novels, poetry, short stories, and plays. Literature is important at this level of education because it is influential in the development of good grammatical habits as well as the effect it has on encouraging a healthy appreciation for writing and the desire to write compositions.
