8th Grade Graduation Information

May 8, 2007

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

Graduation is just a few weeks away and there are several items about which you may have questions.

Graduation practice will be held in our chapel on our Middle School campus on Monday, June 11. This is a full school day and there will be class following the graduation practice. Tuesday and Wednesday are also full days of school with classes in the morning and special activities planned for the afternoons.

At the Middle School Awards Chapel, which will be held on the last day of school, Thursday, June 14, 9:00 - 11:00 AM, many of the academic individual awards will be given to the middle school students. This includes eighth grade awards for individual classes and leadership awards.

Eighth Grade Graduation will be held in our chapel on our Middle School campus on Thursday, June 14, 4:00pm. School will be dismissed at 11:15 on that day and the 8th grade students are asked to return and meet in the AYB building no later than 3:30 PM to make final preparations for the graduation ceremony. The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00 PM.

Due to the fact that we are very limited in seating for this event, each graduate will be given 6 tickets for guests. A person arriving without a ticket will not be admitted.

We will enforce the dress code for graduation as written on pages 9-10 of the student handbook. A student out of dress code will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. Dress will be "Sunday Best" but does not include shorts, formals, or semi-formals. Girls are to wear dresses and skirts no shorter than three inches above the knees when standing even when wear leggings, or properly fitting pants. (no jeans) The midriffs must be covered. No strapless dresses or shirts allowed. No low cut tops, tight fitting or otherwise immodest attire may be worn. Boys are to wear neat, clean, properly fitting pants, (no jeans, uniform pants are acceptable), and buttoned shirts, no tee-shirts. Hairstyles are not to be spiked or shaved.

Please sign and return the enclosed dress code policy no later than Friday, June 1.

Please pray for our students as the end of the year nears.

In Christ,
Mrs. Van Dyke
